Witnessing Non-English Documents

1. What if the document I need certified is in a language other than English?

Ideally try to locate a Justice of the Peace proficient in the appropriate language. Visit the Department of Justice Victoria website to find a Justice of the Peace or call the Honorary Justice Office on 1300 365 567

2. Can I bring an interpreter when I see the Justice of the Peace?

Yes, you can.

3. My parents are not confident when reading or speaking English, what should they do?

There are two alternatives you can take to assist your parents:
a) Visit the Department of Justice Victoria website to find a Justice of the Peace who is multi-lingual; or
b) You may need to bring an interpreter with you, who is prepared to be sworn in, to say they will be accurate in their translation.
